What Was the Process?

After viewing numerous proposals for pre-design architectural and engineering services, the CWS Oversight Committee selected HDR and HOK Sport to prepare a detailed study. This study was paid for with private funds.

HDR is a nationally recognized architectural firm with headquarters in Omaha. HOK is the world’s leading sports architecture firm. The HDR/HOK team also included Barrett Sports Group, a leading feasibility expert in the sports industry.

The Study:

  • Evaluated eight potential downtown sites.
  • Evaluated the potential of a new stadium at the Rosenblatt site.
  • Evaluated three levels of renovation to Rosenblatt, ranging from minor to comprehensive.
  • Identified and analyzed all major costs.
  • Explored additional revenue sources from stadium operations.
  • Evaluated private and public funding sources.
  • Developed a comprehensive preliminary financing and operating plan.
  • Explored ways to enhance the Series for players, fans, the NCAA and the community.
  • Considered the needs of the Omaha Royals, Creighton University and Henry Doorly Zoo.
